A glow party changes how clothes look. A great outfit in daylight can vanish in a blacklit room. Here is how to dress for it.
Which PCB parties are glow parties?
Four of the twelve, all on our parties page:
- LIT: Ultra Glow Party at Hammerhead Fred's. Blacklights take over the dance floor. Sundays and Saturdays.
- Snowfall at Hammerhead Fred's. The name is the dress code: wear white.
- Glow Rave at Señor Frog's. Neon rave with UV lighting.
- Illumination at Hammerhead Fred's. Neon paint and blacklit crowds.
What glows under blacklight?
Our practical read, not a PCB rule:
- White glows bright. It is the safest pick.
- Neon pink, green, yellow and orange glow too.
- Dark and muted colors mostly disappear.
- Some fabrics glow more than others. Cotton tees and many white sneakers pop. If you are unsure, test it in a dark room with a UV flashlight before you pack.
What should you wear to LIT?
White or neon, plus shoes you will not hate after four hours on a dance floor. PCB hands out free glow gear at LIT, so a few glow sticks, necklaces and bracelets are covered. Add one bright accessory of your own, not five.
What should you wear to Snowfall?
All white. Snow machines cover the crowd and blacklights hit everything white. Sparkle works. White shoes will not stay white, so wear a pair you do not mind scuffing.
What should you wear to Glow Rave?
White or neon, in layers that breathe. A packed rave floor gets warm. Closed shoes beat sandals.
What should you wear to the paint party?
Something you can ruin. Neon paint stains. An old white tee shows the paint best. Put your phone and ID in a zip bag and bring a dry top for after.
How do you keep your stuff safe?
Carry less. A phone, valid photo ID and your PCB Club Card fit in a pocket. A big bag is a burden on a crowded floor. Our list: what to bring to a PCB party.
What should you not do?
- Do not wear a brand-new outfit to the paint party.
- Do not skip the water. Hot, bright and loud is a recipe for a headache.
- Do not forget the ID. 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink, valid photo ID.

How do you take good photos at a glow party?
Blacklight photos are tricky, so a few tips from us:
- Skip the flash. A flash washes out the glow. Use your phone's night mode instead.
- Hold still for a second. Low light means longer exposures. Lean on a friend or a rail.
- Shoot toward the lights, not away from them. The glow shows up better.
- Get the group shot early. Before the paint, the sweat and the dead battery.
Keep your phone zipped up on paint nights. A zip bag is cheap and it works.
Glow party questions.
Does white really glow under blacklight?
Under UV light, white and many neon fabrics glow, and dark colors tend to disappear. This is general lighting behavior and our own advice, so test a piece before you pack it.
Which PCB parties are glow parties?
LIT, Snowfall, Glow Rave and the Illumination paint party all use blacklights or neon. Dates are on the week pages.
Do I need my own glow gear?
PCB lists free glow gear at LIT. Bring your own extras if you want them.
Can I wear sandals?
You can, but closed, comfortable shoes are safer for hours on a crowded dance floor. For the paint party, wear shoes you can throw away.
